We are truly grateful for the work of the Lord during this time! It is very apparent that God has gone ahead of us and begun preparing the next steps of Epiphany, and just as importantly, we know He has a plan for the right man to fill the position of Pastor and Elder. While we wait, trust, pray, and seek out God's will, wisdom, and guidance in the steps ahead; we must consider an Interim who will serve until God reveals to us the right person whom He has called to fill this Biblical ministry role.
Though the time frame for an Interim is shorter, the Interim Pastor is the person who takes on this responsibility during this time, however brief it may be: The Interim Pastor is one who can step in and provide assistance with leadership, vision-casting, encouragement for the membership, joins as an equal part of the Elder Team, and enables us through his ability to care for the sick and hurting, bring God's Word during our Worship Services, encourage, meet, and pray with and for this body of believers, and help us prepare the way for the coming Pastor.
During this time we all, as a family, need to be carefully praying and seeking God's provision. This interim time is a unique window of opportunity to bring about growth and change greatly benefiting the church as it moves into the future. We must continue to worship Him in all we do through praise, unity in Spirit, sacrificing our time and offering our gifts to His glory and the service of the community of Springfield! God has placed us here for a reason! Remember Hebrews 10:25 - Do not stop meeting "together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." The Interim Pastor will do all that is possible to strengthen, encourage, and prayerfully seek to build up our church and ministries during this transitional time. Be encouraged church! This is a time to rejoice in the fact that God knows the plans He has for us and they are good! (Jeremiah 29:11)
Upon the recent notice that Bro. Cody Dean felt led to move into a new ministry, God already began a work. He has provided us wonderful encouragement and challenged us through the messages brought forth by Steve Pelt. His stepping in has been timely and helpful. This is very encouraging indeed! The many Ministry Leaders and we (the Elders) have prayerfully considered Steve, and have come to the conclusion that we are confident he would do a fantastic job serving the church during this interim time. We will present Steve to the Body on Sunday, May 6th, for a vote to place him into this paid Staff position to serve our church until this interim period is over. We ask all membership to be present and participate in this vote through careful prayer and consideration.
Let us praise Him all the more as we watch, in awe and wonder and amazement, God do a mighty work in our midst!
